Orange County, June 27, 2011 – Project Access, the leading provider of vital health, education and employment services to families, children and seniors living in low-income housing communities, hosted their First Annual Charity Golf Tournament, with a near sellout crowd, at the beautiful Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine, CA.

The morning was kicked off with golfers participating in a putting contest, and followed by a lunch catered by Pascal’s before the noon shotgun start for the open scramble tournament. Golfers enjoyed the sun all day while playing to support the programs and services that Project Access provides to the residents in their 37 resource centers located in low-income housing communities.

Participants were treated to 123 Tequila® tastings, Popchips® and Evans Premium Lager on the course, as well as two opportunities for Hole-in-one cars! The highlight of the afternoon was the Helicopter ball drop, dropping 500 golf balls on the course – Graham Esply-Jones picked the ball that went in the hole and won a prize of $1,000.00! Mr. Esply-Jones donated $500.00 directly back to Project Access, which will help increase academic achievement for the nearly 2,000 youth in Orange County that participate in Project Access’ after school programs.

The evening continued with a reception and dinner featuring a live auction that raised over $18,000. The night was closed out by the opportunity drawing that gave golfers and guests the chance to win one of 15 prizes that included premium golf clubs and gift certificates to local restaurants. It was a hugely successful day that was able to gross over $100,000. 100% of the proceeds will go towards helping keep family members employed, children in school and seniors active.

At the event, Project Access CEO, Kristin Byrnes, was thrilled with the support the tournament received, “Project Access helps residents become further educated, financially stable and contributing members to our communities. By supporting this event today, everyone in this room is helping provide vital resources to low-income residents, giving them the extra help they need to break the cycle of poverty.”

In 2010 Project Access was able to assist over 10,400 families, children and seniors, throughout the State of California and their goal is to increase that number in 2011. Thanks to the tremendous success of the first annual charity golf tournament that goal is now well within their reach.
