NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., July 17, 2012 – More than 100 Orange County teens living in low-income housing communities are expected to be on hand at Santa Ana College to participate in a variety of workshops and interactive learning opportunities at the 6th Annual Project Access Teen Conference.
The 2012 edition of the conference, themed “Draw your path to the future,” is set for Friday, Aug. 17.
Among the activities planned for them at the event, teens will learn about their responsibilities when they turn 18, including the consequences of committing crimes, sexual behavior and the law and the danger of credit abuse. The group will also learn about building healthy relationships and participate in an arts workshop with a group of artists from various backgrounds that will assist them in drawing a symbolic path that represents their future success.
The teens will also be entered into a raffle for prizes, and take a tour of the college campus to help them learn more about the college environment.
The conference is a component of the Education for Youth initiative of Project Access, which is the leading provider of vital health, education and employment services to families, children and seniors living in low-income housing communities.
“We are pleased to provide this important educational program for the teens living in low-income housing communities in Orange County that have Project Access Resource Centers,” said CEO Kristin Byrnes. “It’s our goal to help them prepare to succeed as young adults.”
