NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., October 30, 2013 – Performance art by Jean Francois Detaille, interactive graffiti wall photos and creative cuisine – all presented at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in Costa Mesa – underscored the imaginative “Create Your Own Future” theme of the 8th Annual Project Access Keys to Success Gala and fundraiser held Saturday, September 21.

The event raised over $260,000 to help support the nonprofit’s 49 Resource Centers in affordable housing communities in California and Colorado.

This year, Project Access was proud to present its Keys to Success Award to Lindsey Ueberroth, philanthropist and president of Preferred Hotel Group. Ueberroth is committed to the core values of the Project Access mission and to making a difference in the lives of low-income families through giving back in her community.

In 2006, the Ueberroth family launched Great Initiatives for Today’s (Tomorrow’s) Society, or GIFTTS. This companywide program is designed to acknowledge and encourage socially responsible actions by Preferred Hotel Group member hotels and employees. Good works are recognized at the Preferred Group Annual Conference with leaders in each of three categories – philanthropy, community and the environment. Additionally, she has worked with the Good Night Foundation and the John and Gail Ueberroth Family Foundation.

Additionally that evening scholarships were awarded to three deserving residents.

“We encourage residents in the affordable housing communities that have Project Access

Resource Centers to create their own futures by accessing the education, employment, wellness, and financial capabilities programs available to them,” said CEO Kristin Byrnes. “In turn, we thank our sponsors and supporters for their generosity in helping us to keep these valuable programs thriving.”

Proceeds will go to support vital health, employment and education programs that help eliminate barriers and give residents a better opportunity to achieve long-term success.
