Project Access Receives $5,000 Grant From Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., November 9, 2015 – Project Access of Newport Beach, California has recently received a grant of $5,000 from the Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund to support the nonprofit organization’s After-School Tutoring and Enrichment Program conducted at Project Access Family Resource Centers located in the Pradera, Hermosa Village, Vintage Crossings and Park Vista apartment communities in Anaheim.
Since 1997, more than $5 million has been donated to local nonprofit organizations via the Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund. Disneyland Resort cast members who are directly affiliated with nonprofit organizations, and contribute at least $1 per week or $52 as a one-time donation, have the opportunity to nominate nonprofits that will receive funding of up to $5,000. Each year, organizations nominated by cast members receive more than $350,000 through the employee- managed Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund grants.
“After learning about Project Access’ work to support and serve families in need in Anaheim, I was thrilled to nominate them for a 2015 Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund grant. I am so proud to work for a company like the Disneyland Resort that allows me to give back to my community through programs like this,” said nominating cast member Lacey Gaitan, Corporate Citizenship Program manager.
“Community engagement is an enduring part of Disney’s legacy and culture and this year we are thrilled that our Disney VoluntEARS program has recently celebrated more than 30 magical years of community involvement that began with our cast members here in Anaheim,” she said. Additionally, Cast Members will also be voluntEARing at Hermosa Village.
“We are honored to receive this generous grant that will help us provide important educational and enrichment programs to the youth in the Anaheim apartment communities we serve,” said Project Access President and CEO Kathy McCarrell.
Project Access directly serves more than12,000 low-income individuals at over 60 properties in California, Colorado and Arizona where it fosters a culture of change by assisting residents from a broad range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds to improve their lives through education, employment, wellness, and financial capability, among other programs.
